Event Guidelines Frequently Asked Questions

The key to the Orange County Convention Center’s (OCCC) success is its adaptability, resiliency and flexibility. The OCCC is leading the way to provide safe events in our new normal. Through a strategic data-driven approach and deliberate planning prioritizing health and safety, the OCCC is meeting safely today for a stronger tomorrow.

Hospitality partners throughout Orange County have implemented new and enhanced procedures to safeguard guests as they return to the region. As the most trusted destinations, the OCCC successfully welcomed more than 100 conventions, trade shows, meetings, consumer and sporting events since July 2020.


General Questions

The OCCC’s interior meeting room and exhibit hall doors have hold-open devices that can be used to keep the doors open and lessen contact points for attendees.

The OCCC has implemented a series of safety signs throughout the campus. However, if show management would like to create additional signage, please work with your Event Manager for approval. Your Event Manager can provide a map and proofs of the OCCC-installed signage.

Visit Orlando’s Destination Services can provide resources on hospitality and leisure tourism updates.

 

Health and Safety

The OCCC is not requiring temperature checks. Clients should work with their Event Manager if they plan to provide temperature checks at their event.

Clients are required to contract with an on-site medical provider. A list of those providers is available through your OCCC Event Manager. Information regarding additional services offered by local healthcare systems and the Orange County Health Department is available through Visit Orlando.

The OCCC is following current CDC recommendations for wearing of face masks based on vaccination status. Show Management may require attendees to wear face masks during their event. All full-time, part-time and temporary OCCC employees are required to be fully vaccinated, unless otherwise exempt due to medical, religious or covered reason by Sept. 30, 2021.

No, the OCCC will not require paperwork from a temperature check vendor. Show Management is responsible for that vendor.

 

Cleaning and Sanitation

The OCCC will provide hand sanitizer stations in public spaces. Show management is responsible for providing hand sanitizers in their contracted spaces.

The OCCC secured the GBAC STAR accreditation in June 2020 and is in the process of renewing the accreditation for 2021. The cleaning and sanitation of meeting rooms overnight is part of this program. Cleaning time will vary based on meeting room size and room set.

Yes, clients can request a cleaning schedule from their OCCC Event Manager for their contracted space in the OCCC prior to their event.

 

Event Operations

Your sales or event manager will coordinate to schedule an onsite or a virtual meeting.

No. Event management will work with each client and their general service contractor for any specific protocols established by Show Management.

There are currently no capacity restrictions at the OCCC.

Show management will design floorplans and work with the Orange County Fire Marshal for approval. There are no floor plan requirements related to social distancing.

Each specific show should designate their own entry and exit points for the building based on their event.

CenterSafe, created by the OCCC’s food and beverage operator Centerplate, provides education, training and guidelines for its employees on physical distancing, increased awareness of handwashing and hygiene, encouragement of respiratory etiquette, PPE requirements, cleaning and sanitation, employee screening, employee training and on-site health ambassador. The OCCC recommends show management reach out to their Centerplate representative for additional information.

TThe OCCC has developed, and continues to modify its Recovery and Resiliency Guidelines. Clients, contractors and exhibitors will be required to make accommodations based on the social distancing recommendations established by the CDC, convention and trade show industry and those issued by local and state health officials.
