With the traditional landscape of conventions, trade shows and live events temporarily altered, the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) is working closely with its destination and industry partners to pioneer and implement groundbreaking solutions that amplify its position as a safe meetings venue and destination.

The Center has incorporated numerous enhanced protocols to prioritize the safety of its guests, employees and community. Leading the way for the industry, here are the top five reasons to host your next event at The Center of Hospitality:

1. Implementation of data-driven Recovery and Resiliency Guidelines

Solidifying its position as an industry thought-leader, the OCCC was amongst the first to release a direct, deliberate and actionable set of Recovery and Resiliency Guidelines. Developed in consultation with Orange County Government’s Health Services Department, these data-driven guidelines are updated and refined with the best available science and research.

2. Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR Accredited Venue

Recognized as the gold standard of safe venues, the GBAC STAR accreditation further echoes the Center’s commitment to safety. Providing third-party validation, the accreditation enables the OCCC to establish and maintain a comprehensive cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention program to control and minimize risk for employees, guests, exhibitors and the surrounding community.

3. Pioneering Medical Concierge Program

The OCCC has pioneered a groundbreaking partnership with Visit Orlando and Orlando Health to provide personalized medical services and resources to all meetings and convention groups holding events at the OCCC through 2020. Among the first-of-its-kind in the nation, this partnership connects OCCC clients with local health experts to provide tailored health planning support and solutions.

4. Safer, Stronger Destination

In collaboration with destination partners such as Orange County Government, Visit Orlando, Orlando International Airport (MCO), International Drive Chamber of Commerce, and the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association (CFHLA), the OCCC is supporting the region’s careful approach to reopening.

With enhanced measures in place across the entire destination, from the Hyatt Regency Orlando’s GBAC STAR accreditation, to Hilton’s Cleanstay initiative, Rosen’s Total Commitment and MCO’s Safe Travel experience, the entire community is coming together to provide a safer, stronger meeting destination.

5. Proven Success Stories

Putting theory into practice, the OCCC successfully implemented its Recovery and Resiliency Guidelines by hosting more than 9,000 attendees at the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior National Volleyball Championships, 1,400 attendees at the Together Again Expo and more than 1,200 attendees at the Florida Wedding Expo.

With no incidents reported following each event, the measures taken by the OCCC and show planners are a proven success and testament to hosting live events under our new normal.

Similarly, home to a series of high-profile sporting events this summer, Orlando garnered worldwide attention by successfully hosting the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Soccer (MLS). These events successfully put Orlando on the map as a premier healthy meetings destination, paving the way for safe, controlled and organized live event experiences.
